Is it weird for people when a black person has an advanced vocabulary?

No, I was raised to speak properly ( had to my mother is an English teacher), and to enrich my mind and broaden my vocabulary through reading, anything and everything, from the Bible to the weekly newspaper. So a black person having an advanced or extensive vocabulary isn't weird. And yes I was penalized by people for having an extensive vocabulary or a " proper" vocab as they would refer to it.
